The many divisions of Gustavson Enterprises are each under the leadership of Julie Gustavson. She has been a musician since the age of eight, and started composing music for the harp in 1978. Nancy Gustavson appeared as a featured pianist on radio in the 1930's, and started playing harp professionally in the 1960's. She began publishing compositions for harp in the early 1970's. Her musical talents had a profound influence on her daughter, Julie.
Julie obtained her undergraduated degree in photography from the University of Washington and her early employment was in public relations.
She has been a real estate broker in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys of California for more than 30 years, handling hundreds of residential real estate transactions (California only).
Julie became an attorney (licensed in California only) in 1988, and has been practicing in the areas of real estate transactions, estate planning (Wills and Trusts) and bankruptcy since then.
Julie became a certified mediator in the early 1990's, at which time she formed a group of similarly-qualified professionals to offer dispute resolution services on the West Coast of the United States, and in Hawaii. Their services are available through the MASS [Mediation, Arbitration and Settlement Services] website.
Julie wrote her first children's book in the 1980's. Years later, after her son arrived, she pulled the book off the shelf and rewrote it, adding graphic images to catch a child's attention. That was all it took to start her creative mind moving, and several more children's books -- not all of which have been completed -- followed. In addition, she felt a desire to share her experience of adopting a child from Russia, which prompted her to write their story in her only book not aimed at children. Phantasm Publishing was created not only to showcase her literary works, but also to provide a forum for other talented authors who have not found a mainstream publisher to handle their works.
